Olivia Frances Brown made her Coronation Street debut earlier this year as Jodie Ramsey, Shona Platt’s estranged sister.
Coronation Street has been running a mysterious new storyline focused on newcomer Jodie Ramsey, portrayed by Olivia Frances Brown.
Jodie, the estranged sister of Shona Platt, made her first appearance earlier this year during the Corriedale soap crossover, where it was quickly revealed she was Shona’s sibling.
It soon became clear that Jodie is keeping several secrets, including deliberately getting Shona drunk, flirting with her brother-in-law David Platt, threatening her father Doug, and, earlier this week, targeting Bernie Winter on the cobbles.
On Wednesday night, Olivia took to Instagram, writing: “Came to the cobbles looking for closure and maybe a bit of chaos. How are we all liking Jodie? Would you trust her? Thank you for all the kind messages. I’ve loved every second of bringing her to life. @coronationstreet.”
In the comments, one fan asked: “Is your character going to try to seduce David at some point? I really hope so!”
Another person wrote: “Omg, I can’t decide about her. On one hand, you can see she cares for Lily and looks out for her, but I keep thinking she might go after David.”
A different fan added: “I love the mystery around Jodie. She’s the new, exciting character the show needed.” Another said: “You’re amazing, I’m loving your character!” while someone else commented: “Really enjoying Jodie on Corrie! I love how unpredictable she is — you never know what she’ll do next.”
Olivia, an actress and singer-songwriter from Liverpool who now lives in Manchester, is engaged to This City Is Ours actor James Nelson-Joyce.
The couple have been together for several years and announced their engagement in 2023 through a shared post on social media. James Nelson-Joyce, Olivia’s fiancé, is best known for playing Michael Kavanagh in This City Is Ours and Edward ‘Treacle’ Goodson in A Thousand Blows.
This isn’t Olivia’s first TV experience, as she has appeared in Channel 4’s The Gathering and had roles in Archie and Boiling Point.
Olivia has a strong Instagram following of 21.7K, where her bio reads: “probably singing jazz standards somewhere.”
The actress often shares clips of her performances at Petit Café Lark Lane, a venue where she regularly takes the stage.
