Coronation Street icon Beverley Callard has given a moving update on her breast cancer surgery, admitting she’s finding it hard to eat and is anxious about her recovery.

Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has shared another emotional update as she continues her battle with breast cancer, revealing on her fourth day after surgery that she’s struggling to eat.
The 68-year-old, who announced on February 19 that she was scheduled for a “big operation” the following day to remove lymph nodes as a precaution against the cancer spreading, has been keeping fans updated on her recovery since the procedure. On Tuesday, she admitted she was finding things difficult and hadn’t posted the day before because she was “completely knackered” and could “do nothing,” adding that she had been napping on and off all day and “couldn’t even comb my hair.”
In the video, the much-loved actress explained that her fourth husband, Jon, whom she married in 2010, has been “force-feeding” her because she has “no appetite whatsoever — but I’m trying.” She added: “I’m not in pain, but I’m really sore under my arm and I still have dressings on.”

“I don’t know what I look like, and that scares me,” Beverley said. “I keep thinking — maybe this is too much information — but will Jon and I still be swinging from the chandeliers? Will I still be attractive or not? All of that’s running through my mind.”
She then offered a more positive update: “I’ve got a hospital appointment at 11am tomorrow, so I’ll find out if I need a second operation or not. But I’m doing OK. I’m doing OK,” according to the Mirror.
Beverley, who recently joined the iconic Irish soap Fair City, revealed earlier this month that her breast cancer was thankfully caught at an early stage. She said she was inspired to speak out about her health journey by “strong, feisty women” and noted that she would need radiotherapy as part of her treatment.

This isn’t Beverley’s first battle with cancer. At just 32, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer — but as she reassured fans, she “beat it” back then and is determined she can do it again.
The actress revealed the shocking news of her breast cancer diagnosis on Ireland’s Late Late Show with Patrick Kielty, telling fans she was staying “positive and strong.”
“I had a hysterectomy and I was absolutely fine afterwards, so I know I can beat this. I am scared now, vanity-wise,” she admitted. “I’m worried about how I’ll look. I’m scared about hair loss or other changes like that.”
Beverley became a household name through Coronation Street, joining the cobbles in 1989 as Jim Donaldson’s long-suffering wife. She left the soap in 2020 after three decades, explaining at the time that she wanted to explore other roles and challenge the ‘ageism’ she felt in the industry.
